The closure procedure is performed at our dedicated
EndoVenous Procedure Room at St Andrew's Place.

In the ClosureŽ procedure, a disposable catheter is introduced into the vein through a tiny puncture or short incision. This catheter is fed into the vein until it reaches the groin.
Then, a dilute anaesthetic solution (tumescent anaesthesia) is introduced around the vein. The probe is activated, producing a precise heating that constricts and destroyes the intimal (interior) vein wall. The vein is permanenetly damaged and will usually not re-open.
After the procedure, patients must go for a walk, and then can return home. Most patients return to work the next day.
It is necessary to re-scan the patient on day 3 to confirm occlusion of the vein and
exclude the possibility of any complications
