Signs and symptoms
Often there are either no or minimal symptoms associated with the condition. However, especially with advancing or long-standing varicose veins, the symptoms may include:
- A heavy feeling in your legs, relieved by elevating the legs
- Throbbing discomfort, muscle cramps and swelling in your lower legs
- Prolonged sitting or standing tends to make the symptoms worse.
- Itching associated with one of veins.
- Skin ulcers near your ankle, indicating a severe form of the condition and requiring immediate attention.
